CampbellAero™: Aviation Weather Monitoring that Adapts with You
CampbellAero Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) Solution
Airports depend on AWOS systems to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient operations, but many systems are costly to upgrade, difficult to maintain, and slow to adapt to new sensor technologies.
Our CampbellAero AWOS solution is a complete, turn-key airport weather monitoring system designed for reliability, accuracy, and long-term performance. Built on an open architecture, it integrates seamlessly with a wide range of instrumentation while allowing systems to evolve as technology advances.
Combining high-quality sensors, dependable data acquisition, and the intuitive CampbellAero software, this airport weather system delivers accurate, real-time weather observations to airports and airfields of all sizes. Fully integrated and compliant with WMO and ICAO standards up to CAT III, it is engineered with rugged, field-proven components to perform in demanding environments.
Contact UsEliminating expensive system overhauls with flexible infrastructure
CampbellAero's open architecture integrates with both Campbell Scientific equipment and most third-party instrumentation. This means that as sensing technologies evolve, you can easily bring them into your AWOS station, thereby removing the cost of a total system overhaul and simplifying upgrades to stay at the cutting edge of innovation.
Intuitive displays to maximize operational efficiency
CampbellAero software's unique user-based interfaces bring valuable data to air traffic controllers, aviation observers, and technicians—without extra distractions.
Reduced system downtime and maintenance costs
Forward-looking system health alerts allow you to proactively schedule maintenance rather than reactively respond when the system goes down.
Safety-enhancing optical measurements made accessible
While traditional optical sensors are often prohibitively expensive, our CampbellAero AWOS solution offers top-of-the-line optical technology at an affordable price point with several proprietary safety features.
Built to stand the test of time
From humid tropical rainforests to icy polar regions, CampbellAero AWOS survives and measures some of the world's most extreme airport weather conditions. The solution uses field-proven, rugged instrumentation from Campbell Scientific to provide accuracy and reliability over a long life cycle.

CampbellAero AWOS represents a comprehensive, turn-key, and fully compliant system that includes hardware, software, and installation services. Many components of this solution are also available individually.

CampbellAero AWOS Software
With distinctive user profiles for air traffic controllers, observers, and technicians, this feature-rich Decision Support Software (DSS) exceeds WMO/ICAO requirements and enables remote monitoring with detailed AWOS data—including Runway Visual Range (RVR) data—and improves operational efficiency.

AtmosVue™30 Visibility, Background Luminance, and Present Weather Monitoring
This system monitors visibility, present weather, background luminance, ambient air temperature, wet-bulb temperature, and relative humidity in a single, ready-to-use sensing package.

CS120A Atmospheric Visibility Sensor
This visibility sensor—which is UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and ICAO compliant—offers premium, infrared forward scatter technology at a competitive price.

CS125 Present Weather and Visibility Sensor
This sensor provides visibility, present weather detection, and RVR data that are essential to aviation safety. With 57 SYNOP weather codes and up to three concurrent METAR precipitation codes, it provides real-time insight for fast, informed decisions, especially in low‑visibility conditions.

CS140 Background Luminance Sensor
This purpose-built sensor measures background luminance using a photodiode matched to the human‑eye‑based CIE spectrum. It delivers visibility information the way the human eye perceives it.

SkyVue™8 LIDAR Ceilometer
This high-performance LIDAR ceilometer is engineered to accurately monitor cloud base heights and vertical visibility. This low-power, lightweight sensor is ideal for general aviation operations.

SkyVue PRO LIDAR Ceilometer
This robust, research-grade LIDAR ceilometer effectively monitors cloud base height and vertical visibility at an extended 10 km range.

AeroX™Stream 200 AWOS Field-Ready System
The AeroX Stream 200 is a Field Data Collection Unit (FDCU)—the unit at the heart of an AWOS station—that controls sensors, manages power, and ensures vital communications.

AeroX Audio 105 Audio Controller
This audio controller broadcasts METARs and SPECIs to disseminate weather conditions, operational information, runway state and usage, available approaches, airfield-specific restrictions, and other information over ground‑to‑air radios.

AeroX Light Runway Light Intensity Monitor (RLIM)
This runway light intensity monitor (RLIM) can observe up to four runways.
