Overview
The CNR2 is a net radiometer that measures the energy balance between incoming short-wave and long-wave infrared radiation versus surface-reflected short-wave and outgoing long-wave infrared radiation. It is directly connected to a Campbell Scientific data logger and is ideal for use in field studies.
Key Advantages
Two-way radiometer compatible with most Campbell dataloggers
Technical Description
The CNR2 Net Radiometer consists of a pyranometer and pyrgeometer pair that face upward and a complementary pair that face downward. The pyranometers and pyrgeometers measure short-wave and far infrared radiation, respectively. Field-of-view is 180 degrees for the upper pyranometer, and 150 degrees for the lower pyranometer. Both upper and lower pyrgeometers provide a 150 degree field-of-view.
Glass domes and silicon windows protect the sensors from environmental factors, minimize the effects of wind and rain on measurements, and are easy to clean. Replaceable drying cartridges prevent condensation on the sensors.
The CNR2 outputs a millivolt signal that our data loggers measure.
Benefits
- Separate outputs for short- and long-wave radiation
- Compatible with most Campbell Scientific data loggers
- Integrated bubble level ensures proper installation
- Replaceable drying cartridge prevents internal condensation
- Glass domes and silicon windows protect the two differential thermopile detectors from environmental factors
