The ClimaVue™ Bird Spike Kit is used to discourage birds from roosting on a ClimaVue sensor and leaving any unwanted droppings behind that could clog the rain funnel. The bird spike kit slips over the top of the sensor and slides down the sides until it fits securely in place. The 35048 consists of a plastic band with spikes pointing upward. The spikes' shape and location ensure minimal interference with rain and solar measurements. The flexible spikes extend 10.16 cm (4 in.) above the top of the sensor. The spikes are designed not to hurt the birds.

For proper installation of the bird spike kit, push the plastic band down on the rain funnel so that the top of the band is 0.673 cm (0.265 in.) or more below the top of the funnel. Minimize the gap between the band on the funnel. You can modify the spikes to be shorter if needed. You can also drill out secondary spike positions to install additional short spikes.
